Back to Blogging
I received a wake up call from a dear friend who said she missed my blog. I have not been in the spirit of writing, trying to survive and start a new business. I am going to move my office around and see if that charges up the energy. The cold weather is not helping either! I promise to get back to work on all levels.

Floods for Fall
I might get out and take a few pictures of the floods we received from recent tropical storm. Thank goodness very little wind, but more rain than we had since Hurricane Floyd.
Kids had a day off from school there was so much water on the road that travel in some areas was impossible.

Two Days of Waiting
Earl sat in the back yard for two days and two nights causing alot of raw nerves. You could see the thing out there in the ocean, all it had to do was vere west a bit and be here. He finally went north and we did not have rain, wind or any damage, just some high waves.

On Alert! Hurricane Earl is coming!
We are watching to see how close Earl is coming to the island. The islands futher up north have been told to evacuate. I hope Earl does not turn any closer to the west! I will post photos later.

The Star Card

Like so many of us I have been stressing over things yet my Tarot Angel keeps sending me The Star card for comfort and "things will be better" message. Today is unusally hard, so I did a card today reading and yes, once again I pulled The Star! Also of note: the star over her head has 8 points........another 8?

888
The numbers 888 came in for the local lottery the same time I was writing the post about the number "8". Eight legs for the Octopus, October for 8 sided, and the 8th, my birthday.
Strange brew. My horoscope says "windfall" so I hope its soon.

The Number 8
I have a great deal of love for the number 8. It is my tarot number/card "Strength" and has the infinity sign as well. I had written a life mission statment and found I had written this number on the page over and over again, so my tarot Angel simply placed it in front of me again to remind me of good things. My dear friend D sent the little Kitty See, Hear, Speak no Evil with a tiny surprise kitty inside and the lovely blown glass octopus, eight legs, the number 8, I was born on October 8th!

Home is Where You Hang Your Hat?
How often have I heard that statement. When traveling for a living I always took a few personal things to have on the hotel bed, a picture, candle, something. This is dear Freckels, who is sleeping on a hat that should have been put away...........however he has put it to better use. This dear creature was thrown out from a truck in front of the house. My husband went after the guy but what for, if he had retrieved the kitten he would have tossed it somewhere else. Sleep well little one and we'll let you know when its time for supper. God bless all creatures big and small.

Biz is Slow
Our 4th of July was a fizzle........not a sizzle. Kids went to seaside amusements with no waiting, one or two kids on a ride....no one waiting in line for pizza, resturants with only a handfull of tables seated. This is supposed to be a very busy weekend, and traffic is always jammed in the business district for a couple of blocks, but I think most people were doing the "Free" things, like going to the beach if they could find parking.

The Redneck Rule
I usually keep my blog light and fluffy but today I get my bitch on. We have a beautiful drive to only beach front park on the island. It is a refuge from lugging chairs, coolers, and all the essentials for a day at the beach, simply back up to the water and enjoy! I did not think alcohol in any form was allowed. Yes I am the red wine lover and enjoy great margarittas, but now they are allowed to have beer (as well as pizza and ice cream, fishing tackle) delivered. Just get out the cell phone and call the ONE AND ONLY place that has a permit and they will bring it. My question: Doesn't Gilligan have to get off the island/beach sometime? Won't he be intoxicated when he crawls off? Our town officials said this is "cool and heaven" to have beer brought to you right at the beach.
I am worried about the aftermath. There is no taxi service and its a long walk off the park to any form of lodging so I am sure BUBBA will drive. It is a narrow, narrow (did I say NARROW) two lane residential road into the beach, 25mph and a bike lane. I think we will attract the worse kind of people and traffic one can imagine. I'll let you know what happens.

Chandelier Recycle
I had this hanging in my office at my old house but moving took its toll and no matter how hard I tried to rehang these crystals it was always off so I decided to strip them off the hardware and use them in various projects that I will "show as I go"......quite a bit to work with and yes, its past manicure day!

Happy Fathers Day
Making Dad his favorite dish and missing my own Father who loved to come here and fish. Picked lovely flowers from the garden including stargazers!!! I may be inspired to come up with a dessert item or two later. We have movies by the lake tonight, everyone rides bike or walks, brings a chair or blanket and snacks. Our version of a "drive in movie". Tonight its The Tooth Fairy, a real funny one according to the kids. Hope the weather holds out.

Salute to Summer & Last Day of School
All is quiet in the hallways for now, as the children had their last day of school. I will of course be sneaking in early to put crystals on a mural and start a new one in honour of the 5th graders who will be "graduating" to another school. I wish all a safe and happy summer, and may God heal our Gulf waters and the creatures who live there. Peace.

4th Grade Celebrates End of Year
Big doings at the little school, with volleyball, hula hoops and a treasure hunt by the seashore. I am so glad my child gets to attend this wonderfull school. There is always something going on for the children. I was in charge of the pizza/snacks so I wanted to make it look a bit more festive using cut flowers from the gardens here at home, hat boxes to hold treats with shells and starfish carefully placed.

Peach Queen
The little peach tree you saw earlier in bloom and starting to fruit is ripe and ready! This is just the very first picking. While smaller they are good right off the tree, as I use no pesticide ever. I think peaches and cream will be in order tonight.
The table (yes I painted it) is a $50 yard sale find complete with 4 solid maple chairs.
Green Tomato White Cheddar Flat Bread Pizza
Could not resist the green tomatoes growing in the pots outside but instead of frying I wanted to try something else. Thin slices of vidialia onion layered with green tomato, and instead of traditional red sauce, two cloves of garlic, olive oil, red pepper flakes, sea salt and pepper, shreds of fresh basil. The cheese is NewYork Extra Sharpe White Cheddar, and after using the micro grater, really only needed 1/2 of the cheese for nice coverage and good flavor.

Sea Turtle Greeting
These little guys are by the front entrance to our little school, I had to hurry and paint them last year so I think I will go back in and add more depth and detail, especially in the sky area since it is pretty much just a wash. I will also start a new mural to give the kids something to look forward to when they return next year.

Moms Remembered
I have some dear girlfriends who passed in the last couple of years. They were great mothers, some I have the honor of seeing their children frequently to hug, ride bike with, and still see her dear face in their eyes, looking back at me. I will never forget you, nor will your children. Happy Mothers Day, enjoy your rest and see you on the next return.
Mothers Day
Had a lovely lunch with Mom over, gifted her with a dozen huge red roses, extra dark chocolate, picture frames and candles. My dear little one made me a card, a bud vase and the glittery beaded bag here that matches all the colours of my summer dresses!! It is all teal blue in the back, liner and handles.

Spring Flowers
Thought you might want to see what progress has been made on a very messy yard after a long cold winter. The roses are starting to bloom, wild roses have taken over one area, and many plants survived the winter. The red amarylis? I don't remember planting, it has been dormant for a couple of years and decided to show it pretty face.
